One way or another, global warming is going to get you; at least that’s what the journo-terrorists want you to believe.
Their latest scare tactic is to terrify the public with the prediction that all that melting ice is going to result in a global pandemic when supposedly eradicated killers like smallpox, preserved for millennia in soil under the permafrost, once again see the light of day.
In fact, these scaremongers warn, there are signs that it’s already happening … Can you hear the Twilight Zone music?
Now, it should be noted that experts are warning about two causes of this potential problem:
While evidence of man-made global warming leading to catastrophic level melting of the ice caps is dubious at best (and faked at worst), industrial drilling is a threat that is probably well worth considering. [RELATED: Discover the truth about global warming at ClimateScienceNews.com]
Jean-Michel Claverie, a professor of microbiology at Aix-Marseille University in France, explains that while microbial diseases cannot normally survive for very long outside their hosts, the soil under permafrost offers a unique environment for their long-term survival: it’s really, really cold; it’s dark, and there’s no oxygen.
“Pathogenic viruses that can infect humans or animals might be preserved in old permafrost layers, including some that have caused global epidemics in the past,” said Claverie. “At the moment, these regions are deserted and the deep permafrost layers are left alone. However, these ancient layers could be exposed by the digging involved in mining and drilling operations. If viable virions are still there, this could spell disaster.”
Okay, so Twilight Zone references aside, that actually does sound scary … and possible.
Dr. Claverie and his team have already discovered a number of these “giant” viruses right in the top layers of the Arctic ice, and they warn that many of these are located in the same areas that are particularly sought after for their mineral wealth, particularly for their oil.
The team discovered and reanimated a particularly nasty “giant” in northeastern Russia in 2015. Called Mollivirus sibericum, it is the fourth such virus to have been discovered since 2003, and the scientists estimate it to be around 30,000 years old. Scientists are eagerly researching these viruses to better understand them and their potential impact on humanity.
While this all sounds quite terrifying, it is important to note that these types of articles always need to be taken with bucket loads of salt. They are often nothing more than “weaponized journalism,” designed to scare people into obediently following a set agenda or adopting a particular belief system – in this case, stories like these terrify the public, making them all the more willing to back any and all means put forward by politicians to end “global warming.”
While this study is useful in highlighting the potential dangers of arctic drilling, it would be dangerous to take it a step further and just accept the alarming predictions regarding the melting of the polar caps.
The truth is, to a large extent we are being bullied by celebrities, scientists and the mainstream media into believing without truly sound scientific evidence that global warming is settled science. People like former Vice-President Al Gore have amassed fortunes in perpetuating this belief, but we all need to remain calm and look at the evidence with open minds.
One of the media’s favorite ways to push their agenda is the “hottest year on record” headline that we see every year. But, in 2014, one of the years to claim that title, there were actually record amounts of ice reported in Antarctica, an increase in Arctic ice, and record snowfalls around the globe.
The other old favorite is the “97 percent of scientists agree that global warming is settled science” nonsense. However, a vast number of scientists do not accept this hypothesis. In fact, more than 31,000 American scientists – 9,020 of whom hold a Ph.D. – signed a petition challenging the climate change narrative.
The takeaway message is this: Stay calm, evaluate the evidence for yourself with an open mind, and don’t be swayed by the antics of journo-terrorists.
